SAN ANTONIO (March 24, 2011) – Today, the Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association and corporate sponsor Time Warner Cable announced Miss Texas USA Ana Rodriguez as the 63rd annual Fiesta Flambeau Parade’s Grand Marshal.

Ana Rodriguez was crowned Miss Texas USA in September 2010. Representing Central Laredo in the pageant, the now 25-year-old Hispanic beauty is a graduate of Concordia University Texas and currently works as a preschool teacher in Austin.

During her reign as Miss Texas USA, Ana has served as an advocate for breast and ovarian cancer awareness, as well as a mentor for young children and a promoter of health and fitness. Ana will go on to compete in the Miss USA competition in June.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with the Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association bringing in great talent to serve as Grand Marshal,” said Gavino Ramos, vice president of communications for Time Warner Cable South Texas. “Ana will make a wonderful addition to the Fiesta Flambeau Parade this year.”

Ana will take on the honoured position at the “Holiday Magic” themed parade on Saturday, April 16. The theme brings all major calendar holidays from Christmas to the Fourth of July to life in one night parade. The family-oriented theme was selected to celebrate traditions and the magical moments that come with each holiday throughout the year.

“Fiesta Flambeau is honoured to have Miss Texas USA as Grand Marshal, a crowned jewel from our neighbour the City of Laredo, there’s no doubt she adds grace and style to our magical holiday theme,” said Robert Cuellar, Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association president. “We are truly grateful to our corporate sponsor Time Warner Cable for their efforts in attaining Miss Texas USA.”

The Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association also named three deserving organizations for their “holiday” community service including the Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, Marines Toys for Tots and San Antonio Police Department Blue Santa to share the title of Honorary Grand Marshals. Also announced was the first appearance of the MET Life Blimp that will circle high above the sky during the parade.
